Introduction

The goal of this course is to give definitions as well as to describe the methods, techniques and standards of multimedia processing. The course consist of theoretical material accompanied by interactive exercises, self evaluation test and glossary.

The user is expected to have some backgrounds in digital signal processing and system theory; but users without such a background can still find this course useful, since interactive exercises with real test images, audio and video clips explain basic issues related to fundamental multimedia techniques.

The page layout is optimized for both 1024x768 and 800x600 resolutions. In the second case, the Full Screen mode should be used. The course navigation is fully inline with Invocom rules.

A part of interactive exercises in this course use ActiveX controls, so a browser which supports ActiveX technology should be used. For the users without ActiveX support, there are special links passing pages with interactive exercises, so the course can still be helpful in self-study on multimedia.

Please read carefully additional remarks both for image and video and audio settings.
